Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit to Kings County Criminal History, including reading its reference material and using a search box. Continued use means that you accept all of the terms below. If you do not agree, stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a local, New York State, or federal government body. Neither Kings County Criminal History nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions, or for any other purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

Kings County Criminal History is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It neither stores official records nor retrieves files, performs official checks, or submits forms for a visitor.

Its material identifies the Brooklyn and New York custodians that hold criminal information, including the Kings County courts, NYPD, NYC Department of Correction, DCJS, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect readers with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, New York State, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person using information found here
  • Use site content for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Access systems or data without permission
  • Send bots, scrapers, or other automated requests to the pages
  • Disrupt the service or interfere with another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this site or a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. That rule is especially important for the New York State Sex Offender Registry. New York Correction Law §168-q authorizes added fines and injunctive relief for specified unlawful uses, and other harassment or threats may be prosecuted separately. Registry information supports lawful public-safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilante conduct or discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Kings County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Its advertising partners do not provide FCRA screening through this website. You may not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

Any check for a regulated purpose must come from a properly authorized, FCRA-compliant provider or the official channel required by law. DCJS Personal Record Review is fingerprint-based and subject-only, not a public screening service.

5. No Legal Advice

The site's general discussion of Kings County records is not legal advice. It cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or New York record-sealing law applies to a particular person. Seek advice from a licensed New York attorney for an individual matter.

6. No Warranties

All site content is provided "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • A partner search result will be complete or correct
  • Content is accurate, current, or complete at all times
  • The service will remain available without interruption
  • The pages will be free from defects or security risks

Criminal records can change when charges are amended or dismissed, a court enters a disposition, or New York law seals a matter. Gaps and delays may occur. Nothing here is an official statement from a Kings County court, NYPD, DCJS, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

The site links to court portals, New York City and State agencies, legal-services organizations, and outside search providers. Following a link takes you to a service beyond this site's control. Kings County Criminal History is not responsible for an outside service's content, availability, fees, privacy practices, or terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on this site belong to Kings County Criminal History or its content partners. You may not copy, distribute, alter, or create derivative material from that content without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Kings County Criminal History is not liable for damages arising from use of the site, its content, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, or legal actions caused by your use of the website or your breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in the State of New York. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, applies to covered government agencies, while sealed-record access is restricted by Criminal Procedure Law Article 160.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be changed at any time. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

The site may suspend or block access at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective. The affected term will be narrowed only as much as needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
