About Kings County Criminal History

Kings County and Brooklyn cover the same place, yet their criminal records do not sit in one county office. New York State courts keep case files, NYPD handles police reports, NYC Department of Correction tracks city custody, and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services maintains fingerprint-based histories and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. This private site organizes those official routes so a reader can identify the right portal, clerk, mailing address, or telephone line with less guesswork.

Why We Built This Site

Brooklyn's record system is split between New York City and New York State. Kings County Criminal Court keeps misdemeanor, arraignment, summons, and early felony records, while Supreme Court, Criminal Term keeps felony-indictment files. NYPD produces arrest and complaint reports. NYC Department of Correction holds current city-custody data, and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision covers state prison and parole records. DCJS keeps the official state rap sheet, but permits Personal Record Review only for the subject or that person's attorney. Bringing those boundaries, access steps, fees, and official contacts together is the reason this site exists.

What You Will Find Here

  • Official reviews: the difference between DCJS fingerprint-based Personal Record Review and the courts' exact-name-and-birth-date CHRS search
  • Local contacts: where Brooklyn court, NYPD, NYC DOC, and state record requests belong
  • Record sealing: where New York sealing requests and Certificates of Disposition are filed, including the Kings County court path

What We Cannot Do

Kings County Criminal History is a privately run reference site. It is not connected with the New York courts, NYPD, NYC Department of Correction, DCJS, or any other government agency. Those limits matter:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot file record-sealing motions, FOIL requests, or other paperwork for you
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
  • We cannot promise that a listed fee, office hour, address, or telephone number has not changed

Only the office that holds a record, such as a Kings County court, NYPD, NYC DOC, or DCJS, can issue an official copy.

Search Partners

Outside providers power some search boxes that appear on the site. Each provider controls its own service, results, prices, and account terms. A completed paid signup may generate a referral fee for this site, which supports public access to the reference material. Kings County Criminal History does not set a partner's charges and cannot control the content, completeness, or age of its results.
